In the changing world of fashion, there is a noticeable shift towards sustainability that has captured the attention of consumers. As people increasingly prioritize eco-friendly choices, brands that promote slow and sustainable fashion are gaining more recognition. One such brand is Hesha’s, founded by Subashini, to make colourful and sustainable clothing accessible to customers in Singapore. Hesha’s is known for its dedication to offering a carefully chosen selection of artisan-crafted garments, reflecting a philosophy that strongly aligns with the principles of mindful shopping.

Inspiration Behind the Inception of Hesha’s

Hesha’s journey began during a crucial moment in Subashini’s life. After becoming a mother and finding herself on no-pay leave, she sought to stay engaged and learn something new. Inspired by her lively and colourful daughter, Subashini envisioned a business that could combine her passion for fashion with a commitment to sustainability. Subashini envisioned a business that could combine her passion for fashion with a commitment to sustainability. Named after her daughter, Hesha’s aims to bridge the gap between slow fashion brands from India and customers in Singapore. Her husband played a crucial role in this journey by suggesting that she act as a stockist for slow fashion brands from India.

With her background as a personal shopper, Subashini understood the challenges many people faced due to high shipping costs when purchasing from international brands. This led her to approach the brands she loved, proposing to serve as a middle person, making their vibrant and artisanal collections more accessible. Launched in September last year, Hesha’s started with one brand and has since expanded to include six unique labels that celebrate individuality through colourful and expressive clothing.

Hesha’s Unique Offerings

Hesha’s specializes in clothing, offering a wide range of traditional saris, kurtas, modern dresses, blouses, kids’ apparel, and men’s shirts. The brand also features handcrafted accessories and jewellery, all reflecting its commitment to vibrancy and fun. Each piece embraces the principles of slow fashion, emphasizing quality, sustainability, and craftsmanship.

What makes Hesha’s unique is its strong dedication to conscious fashion. Subashini ensures that every brand she collaborates with shares her values of sustainability and ethical practices. Hesha’s intentionally avoids working with wholesalers and mass producers, choosing instead to focus on artisan-made items that celebrate individuality and environmental responsibility. This approach not only enhances the product quality but also cultivates a deeper connection between consumers and the artisans behind each piece.

Future Endeavors

Subashini has big plans for Hesha’s, aiming to expand the brand’s reach and offerings. Currently, the focus is on marketing through Instagram, but she is working on creating a dedicated website to improve accessibility and customer engagement. This is an important step as she looks to attract new customers who are passionate about sustainable fashion. In addition to strengthening the online presence, Subashini is actively looking to collaborate with more slow fashion brands to diversify her product range.

Subashini envisions her business growing with the love, support, and encouragement of her community. Her commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing remains at the core of her values, but she is open to exploring new directions. This could involve expanding her collection of sustainable brands or potentially launching her own label in the future. No matter which path she chooses, she will stay true to her dedication to quality, purpose, and the guiding principles of her brand. As Hesha’s grows, it serves as a testament to the potential for fashion to be both vibrant and sustainable through mindful entrepreneurship.
