Microsoft Launches AI Initiatives to Empower Singapore’s Workforce and Businesses

On March 6, 2024, Microsoft announced a series of groundbreaking initiatives aimed at advancing AI capabilities for businesses and employees in Singapore. In collaboration with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and NTUC LearningHub, Microsoft aims to enhance AI literacy and skills among the workforce. Additionally, the launch of the Microsoft AI Pinnacle Program with five pioneering organizations is set to drive sectoral transformation and scale AI benefits across various industries.

Empowering Businesses with AI Skills through Strategic Partnerships

Microsoft’s collaboration with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and NTUC LearningHub marks a significant step in enhancing AI competencies within the workforce. This partnership targets upskilling 2,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) over the next three years. As part of its ongoing role as a SkillsFuture Queen Bee, Microsoft will deliver practical programs to equip SMEs with the necessary expertise to harness AI solutions, thus transforming and future-proofing their operations.

In addition to SSG, Microsoft will work with the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) to integrate AI into adult education, enhancing learning experiences for adult learners. The MoU with NTUC LearningHub is set to upskill 100,000 NTUC members with fundamental AI knowledge, ensuring they are well-prepared for the evolving workforce. This collaboration will offer a blend of digital and in-person training programs, focusing on driving AI literacy and practical application in the workplace.

Pioneering AI Solutions with the Microsoft AI Pinnacle Program

The Microsoft AI Pinnacle Program is designed to develop real-world AI solutions with five pioneering organizations: Certis, HTX, Mediacorp, Seatrium, and Synapxe. This program will facilitate the co-creation and innovation of strategic AI use cases, delivering significant business outcomes and fostering an AI-first culture across various sectors.

Key components of the AI Pinnacle Program include the establishment of AI Centers of Capabilities (CoC) within these organizations. These centers will focus on AI accelerators, toolsets, responsible AI frameworks, and comprehensive program governance. Moreover, the program includes AI enterprise skilling through extensive training programs to ensure organizations can effectively leverage AI technologies.

To further support SMEs, Microsoft is collaborating with Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), AI Singapore, and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). These partnerships aim to accelerate the adoption of Microsoft Copilot and generative AI solutions, enhancing productivity and operational efficiency for SMEs. The initiatives will also provide resources for SME leaders to manage change and redesign business workflows, ensuring a smooth transition to AI-powered operations. Through these strategic initiatives, Microsoft is committed to driving transformative AI solutions and fostering an ecosystem that supports AI innovation and adoption across all business sizes in Singapore.
